After the recent rain, I thought I'd try a few hours on the Dane with my son. Got there at first light this morning with Rhys, who is getting keener than me for fishing. I put a feeder rod with a halibut pellet under a tree on the far bank while Rhys was stick float fishing for smaller stuff. He started off first cast with a chub about a pound. Then my tip went bang and after a few mins, This 4lb 8oz barbel was in the net! It went quiet on the tip for a while, whereas Rhys was in his element getting minnows, gudgeon, dace, and chublets, every chuck. I tried a Monster crab boilie and immediatly hit into a 3lb 6oz barbel. Went back on pellet and had a small chub about a pound, then it went quiet. Rhys was catching all the time though! This is his first ever Dace and he was chuffed to bits! Started packing up around 10.30am and just as I was about to empty the keepnet, the feeder rod went again. This time a barbel of around 2lb (I didn't weigh it) came in. Rhys ended up with about 60 bits plus a chub of around a pound. Me, 3 barbel and 1 chub. A pretty good morning I'd say! And before anyone pulls me up.....The barbel were not put in the keepnet. The last pic is because I caught it as I was about to empty the net.

Yep. certainly ave! After a couple of years on carp waters, It makes a change to catch pristine 'wild' fish. Its alot more satisfying as well, as you need a bit of watercraft to find the big uns. Which I'm still trying to do.....LOL! ;D

I,v fished that peg a few times. Theres some good barbel as tight as you can get it to the far bank on the right where the flow comes thru the tree. The next peg down stream is a good one aswell its a bit awkward tho you need to use a 10ft rod but its a good chub peg.
