Fished about 400yds from Saracen's Head. This was the only decent fish I got in the 2 1/2 hrs I was there. Weather was pretty cool ~15C with some torrential showers. Had plenty of bites on corn but bumped most of them off.

They're certainly not feeding as well as they were...
Not fished the Old Roan stretch myself. Furthest I go (south) is usually the Ship Inn and that's only been this year due to the free fishing.
Just north of the Saracen's Head is the classic Leeds-Liverpool tench stretch in my opinion. Tench to over 6lb and carp to 25lb to be had. Corn tight against the rushes will usually bag at least a couple. Probably more if you know what you're doing - unlike me!

Nice one Daz :(I love that little stretch :(I use to spend a lot of time carping,pike-ing,and tench and bream fishing there :(All I ever use was bread and corns :(The big carps feed at the first day light most of the time there, bread was DE bait for them :(but never had any 20's,the biggest I ever had was about 17-18lb.That's belongs to Wigan water. Were you fishing around here??The best stretch
