as it was a bit blowy today and the charity shield ( sorry community shield) was on me and LOL decided to have a morning up at charity farm as a couple of the lakes up there are quite sheltered and you can catch a variety of fish without getting bored catching carp after carp after carp
getting there at 06.45 it was already busy but we both found a sheltered peg on lake 1 and after setting up eventually (the morning after the night before and all that we both started off at 11.5m, i cupped in a couple of pots of pellets( a mix of greeen swimstim/halibuts and expanders), a bit of corn and a touch of diced meat, a side bet of a quid for the first fish took me 5 minutes to win when a small carp graced my net ( mind you the bugger never payed )
i started to catch quite steadily, small carp, tench and some nice sized and lovely conditioned roach whilst lol fishing 10 yards to my left, doiung exactly the same coudnt buy a bite..happy days and he was stating to get a bit of stick from me, he eventually managed a miniscule roach and then another about 1/2 lb, but he was stiull getting a bit of stick from me
he sloped off to the on site shop and returned with a pot noodle, as i was starving by this time i soon followed and returned to find him sitting on my peg getting the odd fish out
i finished off my dinner and sat on his peg, cupped in a mix of the pellet/corn/meat and sat on it again at 11.5 m, 3rd cast, the float shot under and i was into a small carp, he had scaled right down to get a bite before so it gave me a spirited fight on the number 5 latex elastic
the next fish just bolted for the nearside cover and snagged my so i changed over to a heavier elastic, and i was glad i did as the next fish was about 5lb , lol was sick at this point
a few more fish to the both of us before we shot off home for the match, sods law that it was starting to come on as we had to leave so it wasnt a bad day, the only downside was breaking the number 8 section of my pole , i heard it creak under my elbow and on examination found a bloody crack in the end
this is starting to get stupid now so a strongly worded letter is already winging its way to the managing director of maver , i dont know if its my pole in particular of mavers in general but to break 3 major sections like that in a month is ridiculous
time will tell as to what kind of reply i get
