we can either do it 1 point for 1st, 2 for 2nd 3 for 3rd etc...person at the end with the lowest points wins......
or
11 points for 1st 10 for 2nd till you get to 1 point for fishing the match for those that didnt get in the first 10
either or or either i aim to win either way

I was thinking of the first idea.If 20 people fish 20pts for the winner down to one for last.If only 10 people fish the winner only gets 10 points. It easier to win a match if less people fish so it seems only fair that you should get less points,if two people tie on points at the end of the year the person with the greater overall weight wins.
Would this work OK?

i think the only downside is for me is say the winnner of the xmas match gets 20 points and the other matches only get say 10 people fishing them, its going to be very hard to get back those extra 10 points, the winner of the series could really win it by fishing one match...what do others think?

then we should just keep it simple.
1st) 10 points
2nd) 8 points
3rd) 5 points
1 point for turning up and an extra point for weighing in. nice and simple

A more condiusive method would be to award points to the first 10 places in every match - 1st getting ten, down to 10th getting 1.
If people know there are points available outside the top 3 places, it should encourage more people to fish the matches and push down booking charges.
Nowt worse than missing the frame by a couple of ounces and going home empty handed - this way, at least you have the consolation of the points which could prove vital as the events go by.

marky your better to give the 1st place 11 points and then count down to 10th (2 points), otherwise in reality 10th is the same as 20th ie all on one point

Eh?
Top ten in the points, the rest - better luck next time.
If people get points for turning up, we might as well all join the Lib-Dems - this is fishing, not a commission for humanitarian aid...

I cant make the christmas match but alans system is ok with me if 20 turn up it is fair enough that you should get more points if you win than if there was only ten turn up

For what its worth, I think that if you are fishing a series of matches, they should all have the same amount of points up for grabs, otherwise you risk penalising those fishing were the turnout is not so good.
If we think that we will always get 10 at a match, then why not points for the first 10?

Still struggling to comprehend the point of winners getting the fewest points.
If those unplaced get nowt, why give the winner 1 point? Start at 10points for 1st down to 1, 11th downwards get encouragement for next time...

Overall everbody seems to favour the first 10 people getting points, with 1st place getting 10pts down to 1pt for 10th.If there is no further objections we'll use this system.
And Ill buy a wooden spoon for last.

Making your own rules just complicates matters. There is allready a thread with the fishery rules so lets just stick to them. Mates
