Pleasured the small lake on thursday, blew a gale so sat on the canalised pegs, peg 32 to be precise. Had a cracking day, ended up with around 60lb.
Started on pellet fishing down the track and across but they were not having it properly, mouthing at the pellet but only the odd one really having it. Fed a fine fishmeal across with a few micros and took maybe 8lb of fish from this line.
Went down the track with a piece of paste and never looked back. Fed a pinch of micros with each put in, and loose fed with the catty micros over. Had fish up to 8lb but mostly 1.5 - 2lbers.
If you are not confident fishing paste, i'd go for maggot over micros / fishmeal but take it steady and dont cup in over them once they are there, catty is best they don't like pots of feed going over them for some reason.
if you are pegged on the main part of the lake, conditions depending i'd fish a thimble sized cage feeder tight to any island (peg 6 is a flier) filled with crushed pellt and a few micros, maggot on the hook. And maybe a pole line but be wary of the wind as if you feed too far out you could struggle when it gets up.
Just keep it tidy and simple and you will catch. Good luck

fished it on sunday, around 24lb won the match on the feeder from peg 6.Didnt think much of the lake tbh. Doesn't look right to me with the colour. The only bait that people caught on was paste or feeder. it sounds to me that paste has been fished on this lake to much!.
Can't see me fishing it again soon.too shallow for a winter/autumn venue as soom pegs on had 10" depth.

Youngy, from what I gather Steve G won it? and the top 3 were all very close. Which peg were you on? It can be a tricky water to get sussed but it's pretty simple once you have. There is 20lb to be caught off any peg there, at this time of year. Thats right smudge, at one stage i was giving Rosemary a good 16m of length and she loved it. That lady loves it. It's all about what you do with it

Just out of interest youngy...how did you fish it? was there anyone on peg 1 by the bridge? Did the canal section in the woods produce?
Peg 2 is normally ok, when windy fishing a tiny cage feeder tight to the island and if conditions suit, paste @13 - 14.5m over micros normally works well.

cos it was windy i started on caster/worm at 6m and pellets over micros at 6m, with also loose fed corn on the bomb against the reeds. didnt work. then i went to 13-14m with micros and paste this is what caught fish.
