The beauty that is flexi-time meant that I had a half day today & decided on a reccy on Hampton Springs ahead of a club match there this coming Sunday. I got there just before 3 and installed myself in a peg just as you go onto Long Island: Started off at 6m on pellet after feeding a pot of pellet & corn on that line and a pot of meat and corn in the margins to my left in 2ft of water. I was pestered by gudgeon at 6m so after 10 minutes I switched to the margins and was immediately into barbel, tench & carp. The inside was fishing so well that I decided to start another margin swim to my right. That soon came good and I was catching a couple from each swim before switching to the other. I found meat hookbait was getting me bites within seconds of it hitting the water. With the fish seeming to prefer the shallow water I had a dabble up-in-the-water with pellet at 11m for half an hour and I nabbed a load of skimmers as well as some decent chub & a rogue tench before the wind picked up a bit and I moved back inside. All-in-all a great afternoon and I'm looking forward to Sunday now! Lets hope the weather stays good & I draw ok.

Little word of advice matt, don't pot the bait in at the margins give it large mate, make as much noise as you can.

So many question hahaha! Alan - took roughly an hour to get there but might take less on a quiet Sunday morning. Dead easy to find mate. Ended up with about 30lb in four hours. Mathew - yes you have to use the fishery's own pellets and he charged me £2 for a bag! They will do me for Sunday though. Peg fee was £6. What with petrol & tunnel costs as well it wasn't a cheap afternoon's fishing. Kevin - TBH mate I was only messing about up-in-the-water to see if it was worth bothering with so I used my margin rig set at 2ft deep fishing with 6mm expender & started pinging pellets over the top. Got bites from chub after about 3 mins. Rafa - Cheers mate. A full drennan cup of corn, meat & pellet cupped in from a height followed by a couple of cups of water made plenty of splash though!

I know mate its a world away from the fishing the cut aint it?!?! The place is absolutely stuffed with fish and they weren't exactly tackle shy either. I was fishing .16 straight through to a size 14 PR27 and still catching small roach & gudgeon.
