fished a club match here today on the doughnut.
drew peg 23 which i felt was ok as the wind was blowing into it.i got to the peg which was caked in goose sh!* and set up the rain was coming down hard and someone had forgotten there brolly,am i an idiot?
anyway all in at 10.15started off at 14m on far shelf on maggot no feed, within a few mins i was playing a nice carp.that in the net i went i another line on the shelf again no feed maggy on the hook, same again this time it was a bigger fish which had me all over the lake, after about five mins i netted a good carp of around 7lb.things then went slower for the next half hour so i decided to feed some casters across on the shelf which may have been a mistake as i was now catching tiny roach on maggot.come into the track where it was about 10ft fishing corn and pellet no fish at all for me but others did catch here.now soaked through i tried my margin swims which i had fed with micros from the start corn and pellet on the hook caught me a couple of carp but it was pretty quiet.i tried again at 14m and lost three nice on the run, using black hydro which was probably too light as fish average 5lb and pegs are really tight.not much to say after that exept that hearing all out was like music to my ears to finally get out of the rain.
i ended up with only 14lb which was the sixth best weight.first and second were both on end pegs 71lb and 29lb pegs 7 and 26.
a great lake with plenty of fish just today ruined by the weather.
cheers bud boy
