Me Toryboy and Mick went for a session here today. I started of fishing about eight meters on the pole. Cupped in some expanders and started of with a some small Rudd. The rain was relentless so I decided to set up a waggler rod and sit it out in comfort. There was not much showing for a while until I had a couple of F2s and some decent Bream. To be honest it was quite slow and I could not be bothered chopping and changing. Anyway, I decided to throw in a couple of balls of Sillybait Red and a few micros. The fishing was very slow and I was catching the odd Rudd, Bream and occasional Tench on pellet.
After an hour or two I couldn't get a bite although I knew the fish were there as I was getting liners. I decided to put a prawn on the hook.
First cast the float dipped, I struck and all hell broke loose. The water parted before my eyes as the monster shot away leaving me hanging on to a rod with a bend in that almost snapped as it ripped line from my reel at about sixty miles an hour. Anyway, after five minutes of pure adrenalin and hoping this baby doesn't snap me I majestically slid my landing net under a new personal best mirror carp of 18lb. Happy days
There was a few nice carp, barbel and chubb coming out if you could get to the island with a feeder. We got there later than others and had to fish open water as all the good pegs were taken.
All in all, a good day apart from the weather.
Pellets and Prawns £6
Lingmere cost £5
Watching about fifteen anglers laughing at Toryboys arse hanging out the back of his pants while dragging his brolly and box from the lake............PRICELESS
Sorry, no pics as I have broken my camera.
