This was a few weeks ago
We all decided to fish the stick float for today, baits, red maggot, white maggot, bronze maggot, worm and caster, also had hemp for loose feed, never used it tho.
Upon arrival on our chosen pegs i thought, bah, low water and gin clear, this wont fish !!!!!!!!!. After a hot cuppa and some verbals from Daz and Bernie i thought get tackled up.
I fished next to Bernie, Daz had a snug little peg further up river.
Here's a shot of my "peg" Daz was fishing behind the tree at the end of the pebbles
Bernie was not far from this over hanging tree
I started by throwing some free feed it, then away i went, waheyyyyyyyy the float went straight under, a small dace, more free maggots followed, !! and more dace came to my hook bait. In all about 40 odd dacve and bleak came to my hook
Bernies was stadily picking off the bits as was Daz, then Daz gave a nice shout, gotcha, a nice brownie of about 1.5lb.
Bernie was also getting some good perch, the last one he got attacked a dace on his hook, the dace tried in vain to get away but the perch got him. Bernie got two decent sized perch.
Here's the brownie Daz got
And here's the better of the two perch Bernie got
My catch of the day had to be a nice GRAYLING took on single red maggot
At a guess a would say about a pound in weight.
?? another view of it here
Bernie got this shot of me in action LMAO
At around 3.30pm we heard THUNDER, LOUD THUNDER, ohhhhhhhh no, we dashed to pack up but no, we were beaten by the deluge of rain, we got soaked to the skin
A great day on a great stretch of river, dispite getting soaked.
Thanks for the company lads, until the next time
