Currently using Norton 2005,but keep getting subscription reminders and having problems updating antivirus.
I heard that if you reinstall Norton it start from new,is this true?
What do you use. What should I avoid?

Just read a review for avast and looks good, has anybody used AVG?I didnt realise Norton was that bad,the review all said how much it slows down your computer, apparently not being able to update the antivirus is a comman fault.

ive used norton, avg, mcafee ( if your going to pay id recomend this) in the past and now avast, this combined with the outlook firewall seems to keep me protected i put on mcafee after i was using avg for a whilst, and it found a few viruses(thanfully not serious) lurking that avg hadnt detected avast seems good and its updated every day

Did a scan using AVG and found no little fellas so it looks like Norton was doing its job.
Did another scan using Spybot and it found and removed 39 threats ,so up to now its looking good.

Dave I was in the same position with Norton and didnt want to pay any money out.
So I installed AVG and Spybot both free, plenty of links on the net.Hopefully theyll do the same job but wont cost me a penny.

avg free edition is no good for windows xp, any cracked anti virus does not work properly and can cause computer problems nortons can slow computers down because its a hug program and u need the memory on pc to handle it. avast anti virus is the best free anti virus because its made specifically for home uses, use this along with windows defender if running a proper copy of windows xp. windows defender searches for spyware and malicious spyware and is free from www.microsoft.com
