Had another couple of hours there this morning, my second attempt at pole fishing using the pole I bought off Mathew. Mostly small stuff to maggot so decided to have a go with the pellet. Put on the red elastic and tipped in a couple of cups full of Skinz. Sat back and waited, after about half an hour started to get some liners and missed a couple of finicky bites. THEN all hell let loose, the float dipped, I struck, the pole arched over and the red elastic shot out. At this point I shouted to my mate "What do I do know" back came the very helpful reply "Hang on". Anyway after about 15 minutes of hanging on for dear life I managed to land a 17lb 8oz Mirror Carp. Then panic, NO camera, eventually found someone with an old 35mm camera so as soon as the film is developed I will post the pic. Mathew, glad you tied that elastic on properly mate. I was still shaking half an hour afterwards. Cheers Woody

Mathew, Yes the red one was the heaviest 14 -18 hollow core if it is the same as the spare length you gave me. The film has gone in to get developed today, it still doesn't beat my pb of 20lb 8oz but that was caught on carp gear using the method. This is my pb taken 8 years ago about 6 months after my heart transplant. Ha ha just noticed it says on my profile I wear a silly hat and on this I do. Cheers Woody
