Arrived at Rosemary about 8.00am,had a quick walk round the two lakes and decided to fish the first few pegs on Island pool.
My peg was about 14.5mtrs wide but an overhanging willow ment I only needed to fish 13mtrs.Paul decided to fish a corner peg,the island was to far away so he concentrated on fishing to the rushs on his left.
When I set up i realised I only had a handfull of pellets in my bag,so in went half a pot of pellets, corn and a few small balls of paste.
The paste rig was a Middy 4/12 paste float on.16 line straight through to a size 12 kamasan hook,no shot was placed on the line.I spent plenty of time plumming the peg,so that the paste would be just touching the bottom.
The paste would be molded round the hook and placed in a cup and shipped out to the willow tree, the paste would then be tipped into the water, just before the paste reachs the bottom the float would be lifted out of the water to allow the line and bait to fall directly under the float and the whole rig would slowly be lowered down.
If you have plummed up properly the weight of the paste should cock the float,to shallow and the float will dissapear to deep and the float will ride high in the water.
When the paste has desolved the float should pop up and lie on its side.
Anyway first few chucks and I didnt get any bites,I had a feeling I hadnt feed enough, there was plenty of fish moving.slowly I started catching a few carp around 1.5lbs.
I managed to buy some pellets when Phil arrived to collect the money and after feeding a big pot the result was instant, swopping between paste, pellet and corn I ended the day after catching a carp around 5lbs.
We packed up and went and watched Bri and Chalky bagging on the method on the bottom lake.
