well after a great day yesterday i came back down to earth with a bang
i was going to have a go sitting in my comfy chair with the rods on pods and boilies but changed my mind at the last moment and decided to fish the little lake at walton for the little carp
met a mate from the club tommy who had been there from 6 am and hadnt had a fish, his peg was fizzing with bubbles and he'd had loads of bites on pellet and paste all to no avail
i had a quick 10 minutes on pellet or diced meat but never had a touch so i decided on getting my secret weapon out...tuna chunks , i drained the oil into some groundbait ( green swim stick and crumb 50/50) and mixed it up quite dry, a little ball in the edge showed it sinking slowly leaving a nice trail up in the water , a few pellets/diced meat and a bit of the tuna was added and a couple of balls was cupped in at 11 meters
5 minutes later the swim erupted with bubbles and things were looking good , i was quickly getting loads of unhittable bites and eventually hit one of thees on 6mm expander
how it got it in its mouth with a 16 hook il never know, a few more of theses followed as did the frustration, i fed heavy with pellet and diced meat hoping to draw in some of the better fish all to no avail, tommy got to the point were he just pissed off home  so he started to pack in but i decided to stick it out, i changed over to fishing again at 11 meters but about 8 foot to the side of were i had been, no gound bait this time just pellet and meat, first cast like this and the elastic shot off heading for the snag in the middle of the lake, i said to tommy it felt foul hookd by the way it shot off and when i got the 5 lb carp in i was proved right, hooked in the middle right in the fin, this was followed by a steady trickle of little tench to keep me happy till i had to go get the kids from school
oh well fishing a match tommorow night, hopefully with better results than today
