as ive been pole fishing thursday, friday, sunday, and monday my arse is square from sitting on my box so i decided to have a little go for the carp in the lake with the rods on pods, have a couple of beers and watch the milf's go past in the nice weather
i was going to fish the big lake but one of the carp lads told me it has been very hard in the good weather, so i decided to have a go in the little lake, they only run to about 12lb max but there is enough of them to give you some sport
i set one rod up on the bottom with a strawberry boily but i decided to have a go on the top with the other rod as there was quite a few fish showing
i used a simple piece of free lined artificial bread that allows you to cast about 15 yards at best but a lot of the carp were close in so i gave it ago, i was firing in free offerings of chum mixer to get them confidant in taking off the top
i had a couple of enquiries close in but no takes , i think being relitively close to the bank and all the dog walkers, anglers etc was spooking them too muych, so i put on a controler float and banded a dog biscuit, this was cast towards the middle of the lake and again a few free offerings were catapulted out, the slight wind made presentation difficult and un-natural so i changed over to a small lead and this helped no ends, the nudges were getting more confident until one took the bait and it was 1-0 to dave
macca who had been fishing for the tench from 6 in the morning was next to me and he soon changed over to fishing on the top and he ran home for a loaf ( just aswell you can near spit to his house from were we were  )
he used same tactics as me with a little bomb and crust on the hook, he was soon into a fish so it was dave 1, macca 1 carp 0
i started using using the artificial bread on the hook as we were getting the coots annoying us and it stays on the hook well, i had a couple of takes on it but coudnt hook them  so borrowed some crust off macca( who by this time was joined by a couple of his mates all on the bread)
the 4 of us casting out to the carp was starting to spook them and it was harder and harder to get a take, i then had a run on the bottom bait to keep my spirits up, one of maccas mates had a carp that he was made up with and i had another , but it was getting harder as it got hotter, macca and his mates decided enough was enough so packed in leaving me the rest of the rapidly drying out loaf
i had a 2 more carp after they had gone, all the carp were around the 5-7lb mark not big but good sport on such a hot day
apparently there was a 20 landed from the big lake again to the crust
