Well I've read the reports so finally decided to have a go. Got there about 3pm and fished 'till 8. Found a nice looking swim with what looked like water hawthorn floating on the surface (I think others have been calling these lilies in there reports so I will) Tackled up and plumbed the depth - YEE GODS 15 inches. Anyway tried to get as close to the Lilies as possible with my waggler and started feeding with VDE feeder pellets and jellets on the hook. The swim was soon bubbling like a jacuzzi, could I hook anything could I hell. Missed a couple of lightning fast bites then got talking to a regular (Who turned out to be a member of Mathews fan club) He said he fishes the swim I was in all the time and that if you are hard on the bottom you will not catch because of the silt. I came up off the bottom and got my first fish a 4 in Roach on a pellet nearly as big as the fish itself, I got 3 more of these little blighter's before the end. My miserable total 4 fish. I did learn a couple of lessons first that I think I will have to invest in a pole so that I can improve my presentation, the second is to go around to the far side of the lake from the road to get away from the dog walkers, Kids, Barbecues etc and finally to get down there when Mathew is about to pick his brains. First impression is that there are plenty of fish in it, in fact if I wanted to teach a youngster to fish I reckon this place using maggots would be a dream venue - I will be back. Tight Lines Woody

Hi Woody, welcome to the Greenbank Park Challenge. Really want to know who is the Mathew Fan there... heheheh By the way if you want to target the roach, I agree off bottom with maggots is the way. But for tench, crucian, skimmer, you better use a light plummet to plumb the depth accurately and fish at dead depth / 1 inch overdepth with pellets. And I agree better use pole as the fish bite is very shy. I think you'll see much more bites on a pole float mate..

Mathew, He was using rod & Line with corn, hadn't caught by the time I left, but moved into my swim as I left. Told him to tell you that he had been talking to Woody off the forum.
You will have to let me know when you are going there again and I will try to get up as well. (so that I can pick your brains)

think the guy you were talking too is Ian... Just got to know him a couple of sessions back. hmmm I kinda agreed with Kevin about fishing for roach off the bottom you should get loads of bites esp. fishing with maggots.
As for me I normally fish 1 to 2 inch over depth and I dot my float right down like a pimple.
If you are after a bag of roach and perch.. then maggots are the way to go in GreenBank. I should be fishing it next thursday though as it's one of my off days. Though I might be going down to have a walk tomorrow afternoon after 4pm to see how's it fishing.
Mathew
