Got there at 7.30 this morning with the idea being to fish for a few hours before the temperature got too hot. Kevin and Mathew arrived shortly after me but no Cyprinus? I fished off one of the jetties on the bottom lake, in amongst the reeds, and set up one rod to fish the Method. I was soon into some nice carp and a rogue tench before the fish went into a bit of a frenzy and I started missing bites and foulhooking fish. When things calmed down I hit into a better fish (Mathew has the photo of that one) then it was back to smaller carp, including plenty of small ghosties. alan76 turned up half way through the morning to do a bit of sunbathing/spying! Glean any useful info ahead of the match mate? I packed it in at midday because it was getting a bit too hot and my bites had slowed anyway. It was an enjoyable morning and I'm looking forward to the match! I'm sure Kevin & Mathew will fill you in on their catches... Before I go here are a couple of photos:

I believe we're on that lake yes dave. As for the info there's not much to tell; chuck method feeder out 30 yards then wait for fish to hook itself then reel it in and chuck the feeder out again. Meat baits are banned so that gives a clue as to what hookbaits to use. Braid is banned too. Kev and Mathew fished the pole & caught a few, they can fill you in on the details. Why not give the place a try?

Right then... now my side of the report Got to the fishery finally after getting lost abit at about 740am. Only to realise that the water level at the platforms where Matt82 was going to fish was low. So thinking that it might not be able to catch fish from it we move to another part of the lake. I was fishing at 11mtrs out on pellets and was catching steadily with the small ghosties and the odd decent 2lb mirror. After about 1hr30mins of small fishes I decided to have a walk over to Matt, to see how he was doing and was suprised that even by the margins we could see fishes swimming by and of better quality. So I went back to my peg and packed up to move over to the platform.. Just as I arrived Matt landed into a big one so happily out came my camera. Nice fish mate!! Cont. setting up my pole again at 9mtrs this time round and it was only about 1 and a half feet deep.. But still the fishes were there taking it ;D ;D ;D But somehow I only seem to be getting the small ghosties and the old carp again whereas Matt and Kevin was getting all better decent fish. Just as Kevin and myself were about to go, he got into a bigger one just as I was packing up.. Out came "Mr Nikon" and snap away for some actions. Soon later a nice carp was landed and released shortly after the picture. A nice fish to end a fishing session. Might have a go at Rosemary again sometime next week and lets hope that the water level has risen Mathew

Good day out with Mathew and Matt82, and very happy to meet Alan there! Mathew, TOP PICTURES! Mathew and me fished left side of the lake and was catching a fish a chuck. We lost count the no. of fish but roughly 30+ fish each in 2 hours. Then we fished right to Matt82 and caught a few quality fish. I fished 7M out and it's 3 feet or less, margin swim was 1 foot only but the fish were willing to come close. I lost a mid double in the bush, and I broke a 2nd section of the power top!!! JINX jinx JINX! Luckily I got a spare section at home. And I managed another carp around 10lb and a couple of 3lb - 4lb carp which made me smile again. By the way Matt's carp is bigger than mine though, he just try to keep low profile picture and win the match again! You know it's crazy hot today but the fish keep feeding. I think we'll have a heavy net there. I hope I can get around 40lb-50lb net like today, if I can get a 3rd place I'd be more than happy.

Yeah the fish did have a couple of nasty sores. The bailiff came round as I was landing it and reckoned the big sore you can see near the gills is a heron spike. I caught a few other fish in similar condition but most were in good shape.

I've watched the Herons in action on the big lake - note I said herons - not singular.
Whoever it was that told me they never land in water was talking pants - they do at Rosemary Wood!! They then hop up onto the stumps and look at the fish, then take the ones they want.
I counted four Herons working the big lake all at once one night - and they had big appetites!
