Decided to try Mescar as practice for a club match in a few week, when we arrived at the lake the wind was blowing into one corner so we fished into the wind on pegs 47 and 48.
My plan was to fish the method feeder as it had be winning alot of matchs, but with the heat I thought all the fish would be up in the water.the first angler we past was doing just this and was loose feeding pellet and fishing a few inchs deep and was quickly into decent carp.
Our pegs faced into open water,as I set up I decided to stick with my plan ,the method feeder using hair rigged corn and cat meat on the pole at 11mtrs.If these didnt catch Id start loose feeding pellets over the cat food and try and catch shallow.
Paul balled in a few balls of groundbait a mixture of all the old bags he had in the garage and fished corn over the top using the pole first cast and he was into a decent fish.
The method was the same first cast the tip was bouncing everywhere as the carp nudged the method ball to get to the freebies inside, before I new it the tip rapped round and the first carp was in the net.
After about an hour and a dozen carp I feed the pole line, pushing half a tin of cat food through a maggot riddle and adding some lake water made a cat food soup...mmmmm.
First chuck and a carp was hooked ,my new middy hollo elastic did its job well and the fish was in the net.
Paul with the stamp of carp we were catching all day.
The next few hours were spent swopping between the method feeder and the pole, everybody was catching. But the person who caught best was the first angler we passed fishing shallow everytime I looked up he was into another fish.
A great days fishing, ended up with over 20lbs and a sun burned face..
