The original plan was to head off to Old Roan by 430am and to a fishery by 8am. But due to some unforeseen circumstances I had to make do with GreenBank Park. After sending the wife to work I made my way down to GB. The weather was nice and wind was gentle. A angler who was there with a bivvy told me he was there for 2 nights and had a 12lb carp on a boilie and his mate whom was fishing by the lilly pads had only one tench. Well I told to myself that was kinda slow and was preparing myself for the worse. So I fished as per normal and soon was into a roach and I kept on bumping loads of small ones because I was on a Grey Hydro which was set tight as I was fishing next to the pads. Switch to a lighter elastic rated 8 and 2nd chuck in hook onto a train that took me into the pads!!! Sometimes I wonder if fishes have some kinds of Physhic Power to determine what elastic we are using. After a few more small roach and losing another big one, I decided to packed up the pole and practise me tip fishing. As I'm still new to that kind of fishing. The result wasn't that bad with a couple of perch and roach, 1 crucian and 1 tench to end of the day.. So it wasn't too bad a day's fishing at all for me. The tench which fell for a single red maggot on the tip. I estimate it's about 3lb+ maybe pushing 4lb I guess. Mathew

Mathew, honestly you can try set the grey hydro loose even fishing next to snags. You know the stronger you pull the stronger the fish fight back.
I never set my elastic tight, I set it very very loose even I fish next to snag and I've never got problem. Set elastic tight just affect the performance and waste the hydro mate.

Hmmm would give it a try.. I setted it tight cos was fishing at sefton for the tench and when it was loose the hydro was super stretchy so landing was an issue Mathew
