We arrived at Carr Mill mid morning and walked across the arch bridge to the pegs on the opposite bank in the shallows. The plan was to fish the feeder using maggot and corn as hook bait with brown crumb and supercup 50/50 in the feeder. The first couple of hour were slow with us only catching a few small skimmers and roach. Then Andy stopped putting maggots in the groundbait and was getting a fish a chuck. The last hour the skimmers moved over the feed and with us cutting out the freebies we were getting a bite every chuck, with decent hand sized skimmers and roach. In the end it was a quite days fishing in nice surroundings, not bad for £20 a year and not a carp in sight. Andy (uk fishers) peg

the pegs u are on are noted pole pegs and you can catch a decent weight of good roach on caster/maggot though maggot will get u a smaller stamp. If u want a good weight of skimmers and proper bream walk further round into Hollinhey Bay early pegs and i think peg 16/18 are pretty much fliers. Groundbait feeder with squatts and chopped worm inside and a small worm on hook usually scores. Watch out for the Zebra mussells though they will crack u off.

Carr Mill is controlled by St Helens AA membership cards can be bought from tackle shops in the area, they also control the fishing on the Dig PIt behind Carr Mill,Blackbrook Basin the Hotties and Leg o mutton dam, cards cost £20 a year,
The pegs we fished were noted pole pegs, but we set are hearts on fishing the tip plus there was loads of mountain bikes wizzing round and I didnt wanna break the pole down every section. Speeking to the bailif he said sport was slow all week, next time we go we'll fish the recently restocked Dig Pit,it supposed to be fishing well.

Mountain bikes even worse now that the pathways have been done up. Dont wish them any harm but if one happened by at sonic speed with all the fancy gear on, lost control and went into the lake i would deffo p!ss myself.
