Well same idea as last week, straight down the cut after work and fishing by half 5. Decided to fish the same swim as last week too.
Kicked off on the punch and had a couple of small roach before switching to my main line next to the rushes which I had fed with 3 soft balls of VDE Silverfish containing pinkie, maggot and caster. Initial response was slow with small roach and perch before I hit a decent fish (I suspect a perch) which came off as I brought it across the middle. Back in for a couple more small roach and perch before all went quiet...
...5 mins later I hit a proper 'un which flew into the reeds, bending out my size 22 B511 in the process. The light rig went up the bank and my heavy rig with 10s elastic and .10mm bottom got wet. Another 10 mins later and double caster brought a bite from another proper 'un but this time there was no escape and I landed a 3lb tench. An 8oz perch came next cast but then all went quiet again and I had to wait for a while before landing another tench, this one smaller at around 2lb. I did miss another couple of bites and bumped another tench before calling it a day and heading for home just as it got dark.
Far fewer bites this week but some proper fish showing. Spoke to a fella walking his dog who said he was down earlier in the week and saw an angler have half-a-dozen tincas so they're having a nibble it seems.
Tight lines
Matt
