Started fishing about 9:30. Fished to a bush of reeds about six metres in front of me on the pole. Started with a piece of meat on the hook and no loose offerings. Did not have a bite for the first 45mins so decided to cup in some Sillybait black groundbait with half a dozen micros over the top every five mins or so. It was not long before I had my first common about 6lb on a ringers pellet. Ended up with three carp and a smzll goldfish for just under 17b. Not bad me thinks. Was fishing with Toryboy who was fishing tight to the far island. He had a very slow first couple of hours until the fish arrived then had a fare few pasties for 13lb.

There are two small lakes. One at the bottom and the other one is raised up on the hill, it has very steep high sides around the top lake and this keeps the elements abay.
Its just around the corner from Dellamere Forest by Tarven Sands.

Fished on the 19/03/06Arrived at Bannister House at 7:45 and despite a light frost decided to fish the old snake pit to the left when you come in. After having a quick walk around checking how the Easterly wind was going to be coming in it was decided my dad and myself would fish pegs three and four by the stick ups. It was a comedy of errors in the first half an hour after setting up due to rustiness on both of our parts. (The peg I picked) (my old mouldy bait) The bait wasn’t the freshest in fact I received a telegram from the English cricket team requesting my Pinkies as replacement Cricket pads as I hope the picture of the bait indicates. Anyway back to the fishing decided on fishing with 2.2lb mainline with a 1.1lb hooklength with the styles strung out shirt button style, this was presented with a number 6 elastic which was either going to be brave or stupid because of the peg I’d chosen. Down to the action and after 15mins on single red maggot, that fisherman’s favourite of winter good ol’ Mister Gudgeon made an appearance, this was closely followed with a half decent perch. Things then went quiet for the next 20 minutes or so. So I took the bold step of a few pouches hemp and pellets to try and tempt the little pasty carp. (Good ol' Mister Gudgeon) (Pasty Carp *homer impression* mmmm Pasty) I got my just deserves about 10 minutes later with a little carp about 8oz followed by another of about 12oz, then the bits came along again. This didn’t bother me as such I was just glad to see the float under after over a month of sitting in watching the fishing on Discovery Home & Leisure. So all though the fishing was great I ended up with about 8lb of bits which wasn’t bad considering the weather we’ve had lately and the fact it was only about 2 ½ foot deep. My dad had a better day with some big roach and Ide to probably 1lb to 1.5lb and a nice carp of about 3-4lb. (dads Carp) (dads net of fish) (My net of fish) I look forward to getting out again. Mark. P.S. take no notice of the dates on the pictures, couldn't be arsed resetting it.

older maggots that have been in the fridge work better than new ones in my experiance, just watch new maggots when you put them in the water they shrivel up,go all squatt and dont tend to wriggle as much, older maggots dont do this as much, probably IMO as they are more aclimatised to the cold
good to be out catching fish, bit cold for the pole though ;D
