Went for a walk around here yesterday. A couple of carpers on the big lake but never had anything (or so they told me)
The little lake had people fishing but not much was coming out. The only fish that were coming out were from up by the boat house fishing on the tip with maggot.

Had another walk around here today. It is fishing better than yesterday with most anglers catching. Mick playing one of his fish. Here it is. A half decent winter Tench. What you dont see here though is the fun he had ( well, I had laughing ) as he got his line caught around the guy in the next peg. The guy struck and thought he was into a right beast until Mick told him Anyway most people were catching with a cage feeder and maggot. To cold for me though.

funny enough i walked around wally on monday, sod all caught from the 2 lads fishing it but then most of the lake was still covered in a thin layer of ice and by the look of the picture the water levels back up( it was down about 6") chalkys lucky to get a tench in this weather

decided on a quick session today in walton park
as it was bloody freezing sitting it out on the tip was the order of the day, small blockend feeder filled with red maggots and pinkies , double red maggot on the 22 hook, first cast and the tip swept round, but it was obviously a liner, second cast and the rod was ripped out of the rest, this was no liner, a quick fight and a nice winter carp of 3lb odd was safely in the net, next cast and a similiar bite resulted in me being snapped off as was the next cast, the hook length was increases to cope with these hard fighting fish...
that was the order of the day, lots of bites with most snapping me or me bumping them off, the rest of the lake fished similiar, mainly to those on the tip but one brave soul stuck it out on the pole, unfortunatley just resulting in a single carp.
enjoyed the session but that wind was chilly

i was starting to get withdrawl symptoms not having fished since last week so decided to have a bash after the carp in waltons little lake, i thought i was goping to be the only one there today in the cold and blustery conditions but there was already quite a few there when i got there at 10 decided to put the wind to my back so set up by the boat house , tip was definately the order of the day, so out went a small blockend feeder with double red maggot on the size 22hook to 2lb 8 hook length i was soon into my first fish, a small common, plenty of bites right through, mostly the tip was slamming right round as they hit, but then i started to get bites that were quite tentative and just nudging the tip round, at first i thought that they were just liners but had a stirke at one anyway, this resulted in a nice bream about 5lb ended up with 12 carp and a solitary bream, i was snapped a couple of times and pulled out of a couple more, i tried increasing the strenght of the hook length but i coudnt get it to sit on the hooks spade properly so just persevered with the 2lb 8 and played them a bit more carefully not a bad day to be out, the weather didnt know what to do, we had all seasons today, snow, rain, wind , sunshine the lot

i tend to fish it midweek, when the kids are at school, in the summer 100lb is quite easy to do if you get in the right peg it gets busy at the weekends its full of carp ( apparently a 20lb'er is in there but i dont believe it), bream( to 7lb+)tench and silvers( though usually the carp hoover up everything before you get a chance to get one) best tactics at the moment is red maggot and small block end feeder, in the middle of the lake, this will change as the water gets hotter in the early summer il fish pellet and when it gets hot punched meat over hemp/pellet at 9m on the pole, you can fish longer if you want but you have to watch out for the kids on bikes and women with prams you cant beat it for free fishing mate

Mick fished here today and ended up with four carp. catching on corn and red maggot.
He lost two donkeys on boilies so its worth lobbing a small boile on to see what you can pick up.

went today for a few hours in the pissing down rain and wind seeing as i blanked on the red maggot and feeder i decided on slightly differnt tactics today decided on the straight bomb and pellet (sensas meaty and green swimstim), loose fed with a catty over the top had a small carp of about 3lb on my second cast so things looked promising ;D...unfortunately that was the highlight of the day, plenty of liners but no proper takes there was plenty of carp showing, jumping out the water all over the place but not feeding mine was the only fish caught on the lake that i saw somebody was telling me that lakes will be taken over by a club, i cant see that as its council property

Dave, I was talking to a few lads who fish the parks regular they told me that the council will start selling yearly cards to fish the parks and day tickets ,they even told me that their was plans to put pegs round every lake its got something to do with the parks regeneration project. I think this will be a good thing as long as the money is spent improving the lakes, lets see what happens. Alan.

if they plan to do it in the big lake they need to put the fence back a couple of foot, theres only a foot and a half between you and the water, theres no chance of me with my milo box
