hi all, after seeing the weather forecast i decided to stay local, mescar was the choice, something which i now regret. arrived at around 9 oclock the sun was shining although pretty cold due to the wind, which felt like it was getting stronger by the minute. i walked to the water and the wind was really strong as this lake is very open,i wanted the wind behind me so i set up on peg 53.i felt it would be to windy to fish the pole and only set up a feeder. started off on a maggot feeder with maggot on the hook, tried casting long and short but all without success.changed over to just a lead with sweetcorn still no hungry fish,i must have been around 12 oclock and all id had was the odd liner to keep my hopes up.with the lake now looking like the sea i put the feeder back on,watching the tip was now hard work, but a good move.on my next four casts the tip rattled and each time it was a small roach-i mean tiny roach,at least i didnt blank.after that little spell of action no more fish were seen.had enough of the wind by 2pm so went home. this was my first course outing of the year and i was happy to be out, now raring to go as the weather picks up.ill post reports,
cheers bud

if you are heading for mescar from lydiate, carry on past mescar and go over the canal, follow the road for about 100yds and look for a clump of trees on your right, there is a dirt track heading to this clump of trees (there is the remanants of a sign but its a bit smashed last time i was there), at the end of the track is a car park. green lane pits is 2 small pits that join in a couple of places, there are a lot of trees around it and a high bank so you get some protection from the wind. plenty of fish in it (small carp etc and plenty of silvers) but it does get busy especially at the weekends and school holidays, kids bumming stuff can be a pain in the arse at times but weve all done it
