Hey tom, I live not far from Reddish Vale, and did quite a bit of fishing there over the summer, as I was getting back into it all after a *long* break. I found the best method for continual action is to float or pole-fish, generally light, around no3-4 elastic, fishing red maggot and feeding red and whites, half a dozen or so relatively often. Fish about 8m out on the big lake just about anywhere and you should catch, so long as you chase the fish around by varying the depth every now and then when bites fail. That will catch loads, but they're all quite small. Saying that, i have some nice fish from there (perch bream). It's hard, but in the summer it can be a laugh, just that there's always too many people wlaking (running) around, making me fear for my stuff.... P.S. (hopefully, if I've go the computer stuff right, there should be a picture) Nice 1lb plus perch, on pole fished red maggot, at reddish vale sometime around early October

Looks a bit tight in that swim mate. Is that a wire fence behind you?

The swim I'm at in the photo is actually quite good, in that there is room to ship a pole back, and it's down from the path, and there's a nice bit of rrom for bags etc roughly where the photographer is. The problem with reddish vale is the fac that most swims are on the path, and there can be millions of people all walking around. Other than thatr, it is a pleasant place to fish, I just wish that there were some decent fish that could be caught in there....
