After sending the wife to work this morning, I decided to pop down to Mellors fishery for a short session. Since I've bought their angling membership might as well make full use of it I reach the place at 7am and found myself a peg that was facing an island. Set up my gears. Today I had an extra item to bring along which was my Bulky Nikon D50 as my Grandad took my smaller digi-cam back to Singapore for 2months. Anyway the first fish was a Gudgen, at first I was missing loads of bites as I was on a size 18 hook, so I downsized it to a size 22hook along with a .08 diameter, 1lb line. Then I started to get bites after bites. Though nothing much it was roach and gudgen and a few skimmers and the odd Perch. I was fishing with pinkies which proved to be quite alright a bait for this fishery. Stopped fishing at 1pm to fetch the wife from work And tomorrow I guess I would be going to Car Lane fishery. Anyone interested to join me? I should be there from 7am to 3pm.

I'm going here tomorrow so I have a few questions like how to get there from switch Island? how much is the day ticket? as its my first time, I won't ask the best methods as I like to try and figure things out for myself, any info will be great.
I will post a full report tomorrow after the Liverpool match.
Cheers lads & lasses

I didn't manage to get my rollers back..so there goes one bank stick and roller. Which gives me an excuse to tell the wife that i need a new one The directions to Mellors from Liverpool.. Take the M62 and come off the third junction. It would come to a round about and take the exit off to Whiston. Just carry on straight, once you pass the house on the right, you will come to a garden centre turn right into the lane and you will see mellors on the left. If you missed it, you come to a t-junction so just make a turn back. As for carr lane. I left the directions in the car. Will try to get it for you tomorrow I heard it's about £2.50 for a day ticket. But I bought their angling membership for £22 a year. So it enables me to fish Mellors and Carr Lane. Cheers. Mathew

02/03/06Yesterday while I was in the tackle shop, a friend of mine invited me to a match at Mellors fishery which is located. 3 junctions off the M62 from Liverpool, unto Whiston and it's just pass a garden centre on the right. Was quite surprised to find a fishery that is just about 10mins - 15mins drive away from my home. So I bought my pinkies yesterday went home and rig up my floats. I made my way down today and was only greeted by 2 other anglers for the match!! My friend didn't turn up at all!! So we had a friendly match within 3 of us.. Pay up the £5 and winner takes all.. The fishing was good I might say, I kept on noticing the guy opp. me landing fish after fish.. I just had it slow all the way.. But I missed so much bites that I got quite fed up with myself!!.. Anyway the winner had a bag of 9lb 9oz.. think I came in 2nd as we both decided that he was the winner!.. Had a couple of nice breams.. and roach.. Nice fishery would definately go back again when the temp rises!. And the weather was forgiving as it only snowed just when we finish our session.

Mellors 22/03The sun was up and nice.. and I just handed in my 2000 word essay so it was time to kick back and relax with some fishing. Went down to Mellors with my mate Kevin. Overall it was quite a nice day out.. We got into a couple of nice Breams, Skimmers, Rudd, Roach and I had one Chub. It was pretty quiet in the beginning but once we soon cracked the code we were on the way into catching.. We were fishing on double pinkies and they seems to be loving it. Just some pictures of the day... One of the better breams I caught. The only rudd I caught today. Kevin playing with the fish! The bream about to surface.. Landed!!!..Weighing at 2lb07oz Overall it was a splendid day of fishing and we both enjoyed the day... Nice.. Cheers. Mathew
