As a newcomer, just reading some of the old threads, and there are a couple of posts on directions to Six Fields. Heres an alternative.
From Southport:
Take the A565 to Preston.
After you cross the Southport drains, you will then come to a roundabout (Petrol station on left as you approach the roundabout). At this roundabout go right onto Gravel lane
Follow gravel lane for 300-400yds and it bears round to the left. As it bears to the left, you will see buildings in frony of you which are some oil distrubution company (or something). Turn into forecourt of the building (careful as you are turning across a blind bend and cant see the traffic coming towards you , but its a quiet road).
To the right of the oil company is a track leading out into the fields. Now just follow this track for about a mile. Its very bumpy, and watch out for tractors and partridge.
You will see Six Fields covert on your right (this is the wood where the fishery gets its name), and you should by now be able to see the caravans at leaisure lakes over on your left
The track then bears round to the right. (and another track comes in from the left at this point). After a hundred yards or so, the fishery is on your left.
If you reach the bridge over the sluice, you've gone just a bit too far.
You will find six fields very prolific if catching hundreds of identical F1 hybrids is your thing, but there are some much bigger carp in there, certainly to mid double, and as a bonus there are some 3-4lb Golden Orfe. try using bigger baits, and definately have a bash at taking a few off the top on bread, dog biscuits, or just use a pop-up.
