Finally got to have a go at beacon view on Saturday afternoon. It wasn't a bad day but unfortunately i didn't manage to land a sturgeon. I fished two rod lengths out using meat and after a hour and a half hadn't had so much as a knock so i switched to the margins on the pole and instantly got a bite which was a skimmer of about a pound. Then it was a bite a chuck but they were very shy and i couldn't hit them. so after using a slightly lighter rig and dotting the float right down i started getting crucians to a bout a pound after two hours i hit into something bigger and after a five minute fight got a nice sturgeon of about 8lb to my net only for it to come off after that i stayed for another half a hour but the wind had picked up quite a bit and the rain clouds were gathering so i decided i had missed my chance and went home beaten but i will return. sorry i have no pics my phone has gone loopy.

johnny ive fished beacon quite a few times and the best way ive found to catch the sturgeon is fish straight out about 3 feet from your rod tip , the best way is to find the bottom of the ledge and fish there about 6 inches overdepth , ive had plenty of sturgeon with the biggest being 16 1/2 lbs .

Thanks for the info lads Do the sturgeon still feed well in the cold weather or do they slow down like carp do?
