went back to walton this morning after hearing of the nice conditioned roach that have been showing, i had a pint of maggots id had in the fridge since last week but they were ok after a riddle and some fresh sawdust, they had just started to turn so the odd caster in them would come in handy
it was a misty and foggy lake when i got there and luckily the pier i wanted to get on was empty
i fished at my usual 9 meters ( any more and it pokes through the fence, ive had enough breakages without risking somebody walking into it and breaking it again ), i fed a swim to the left at 11 oclock and one to the right at 1oclock, the depth is uniform in the park so one rig would do for both
i had a light rig set up for the maggot/caster and a heavier one ready if any carp decided to play
feeding little and often soon had the roach/perch and skimmers coming steadily to the net, if one of the swims went off it was a simple job to fish the other to keep the fish coming, as predicted i was smashed up twice by what was obviously a carp but on the light rig and number 4 elastic in my match top i never stood a chance, i went over with pellet on the heavier rig but never had a bite on it
it was a good days fishing., im enjoying catching silvers and having to wotk for the bites more than bashing out carp after carp on comercials more and more, looking forward to the winter on the canal and hopefully a couple of river trips
